Global Traffic Technologies, LLC (GTT) has contracted with Jacksonville Transportation Authority in Florida for the expansion of its latest-generation GPS-equipped Opticom™ Transit Signal Priority system.
The Opticom TSP system allows public transportation agencies to extend or truncate green cycle times at traffic signals for more accurate schedule adherence. In turn, transit vehicles are on the road less, which reduces fuel and fleet costs for more profitable operations. In Jacksonville, additional buses have been added to the existing Opticom TSP system.
Jacksonville is the most populous city in Florida, and the largest city in the continental United States in terms of land mass. These factors mean demand for an efficient and effective public transit system is high, and performance is crucial.
GTT’s CEO Doug Roberts said, “We are very happy to continue our relationship with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, expanding the city’s TSP system to provide public transit users with a smooth-running and performing transportation system.”
