Global technology leader enabling a more proactive approach to ensure optimized performance of its Opticom™ solution
Global Traffic Technologies, LLC (GTT) will be presenting its vision of the future at an information event this week in southern California. Presenters will include experts from within GTT and consultants from the region.
GTT has been working toward an ever-increasing “solutions” focus for a number of years, which has led to some interesting and valuable innovations, such as the ability to host its infrastructure management application, communications-enabled hardware components and perhaps most important, an increasingly close relationship with its dealers, such that together, GTT and its dealers can provide services that go far beyond what was possible in the past.
With the right infrastructure in place, GTT has the ability to monitor intersection and vehicle equipment remotely, conduct routine maintenance and provide all sorts of useful data to traffic personnel with its robust reporting capability. By ultimately managing thousands of deployments, GTT can to pass savings along to its customers, enabled by economies of scale achieved by avoiding the model where each customer manages its own deployment independently and sometimes without enough resources.
GTT’s customer care helpdesk serves as triage for any reported problems, found either by users of the system or GTT’s monitoring staff. The helpdesk escalates issues appropriately and when an on-site service call is needed, the local dealer is deployed to handle things at the local level.
With more than 70,000 intersections, 70,000 vehicles and 3,100 cities using GTT’s solutions worldwide, including 41 of the 50 largest North American cities, GTT is close to what’s being asked for by the market and in recent years it’s become clear that there’s an increased need for these types of services. Several large cities around the United States in fact, have already chosen to have their deployments managed by GTT.
“The days of having to deploy applications on IT infrastructure within the four walls are gone,” Said Doug Roberts, CEO of Global Traffic Technologies, LLC. “It’s time to move to the cloud and enable all of the benefit that comes from doing so. These services make a lot of sense for our customers, our dealers and GTT.”
The ultimate goal of these moves is to enable “turnkey” solutions. To complete the solution, GTT offers purchasing models that fit the needs of virtually any organization. Whether buying, leasing, or even subscribing to the solution as a service, GTT can provide all components of the solution, the software and all related services under a single agreement, all of which can be configured to specifically meet the needs of individual customers.
In its own internal analysis, GTT estimates that many customers will find that the annual subscription payment for example, is significantly less than the annual cost savings that can be realized by GTT’s solutions. Said Roberts, “This, on top of faster access to the scene of an emergency for first responders, and/or a better, more efficient commute for transit passengers, makes this a win for everyone.”
