Kristen Rose:
Hey, and welcome to our V2X vlog series with Global Traffic Technologies. My name is Kristen Rose. I’m the marketing director here at GTT and today we have Corey Yovich with us. Hi Corey.
Corey Yovich:
Hey Kristen.
Kristen Rose:
How are you doing today?
Corey Yovich:
I’m great. How are you today?
Kristen Rose:
Good, good. Thanks for joining us. Corey is our senior technical project manager here at GTT and he plays a critical role in our client-facing services, getting projects off the ground and up and running. Corey, tell us just a little bit more about yourself and for fun, maybe one interesting fact that people may not know about you.
Corey Yovich:
Sure. So, as a project manager at GTT, we handle a lot of the coordination when it comes to deploying our software or cloud-based solutions. We handle a lot of the interactions between our customers and our dealers and our engineering team doing our system setups and basically just try and coordinate for the most efficient deployment possible and going through and testing and making sure everything’s working at the conclusion of our projects.
Kristen Rose:
And then that one interesting thing.
Corey Yovich:
Oh yeah, that’s right. I would say one interesting thing is I really enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. It kind of allows me to disconnect from reality for a while. Get away from some screens which, you know, we all spend most of our lives staring at all day. So, it’s kind of nice just to get to something really analog and I enjoy doing it.
Kristen Rose:
Awesome, awesome. You mentioned that a lot of your job is around coordination, which can sometimes make it seem simple. I know it’s anything but simple. It’s highly complex, the deployments we do. So, I have an appreciation for what you do here at GTT, and we get nothing but positive feedback from our clients on the work that you do too. So, and then as far as the puzzles go, I have to say I may have done a puzzle over the holiday break as well. It helps me when I have little ones running around to maybe have a glass of wine at night and take a deep breath too,
Corey Yovich:
<Laugh>. Sure, sure.
Kristen Rose:
So we’re here to talk about V2X technology. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. So GTT is rolling out a broad strategy for this, and we believe that priority control is the key to broad adoption of the V2X communication standard. I would love for you to talk about one of the recent deployments that we’ve done at the Peachtree Corners Curiosity Labs, and just tell us a little bit about that project. What took place there and how V2X was working there.
Corey Yovich:
Sure. So, in conjunction with our partners at Iteris, we were able to deploy one of our new CV applications at that intersection utilizing all existing equipment that was at that intersection already. And we’re able to demonstrate how we can initiate TSP using all of that existing equipment. So, it was a big step in the right direction and really allows us to integrate with the CV technology and basically any CV technology within the industry.
Kristen Rose:
Very cool. Yeah, I was recently at Peachtree Corners and got to tour the Curiosity Lab and take a ride on the beep autonomous vehicles that were enabled with TSP and V2X technology. Take a look,
Kristen Rose:
I’m on an Autonomous T-Mobile vehicle. Some friends from the ITS America Group. Hi friends. <Laugh>, we’re looking at the Iteris solution here. We’re gonna be looking at some TSP requests coming through here in just a few minutes, so Cool. Stay tuned. Nice.
Kristen Rose:
So, yeah, that was a lot of fun. It was my first time on an autonomous vehicle, which is kind of crazy cuz I’ve been in this industry for going on six years now, <laugh>. So it was neat. It was slow-moving so you really got to see in detail how TSP was working, the phase extension that was happening as it was happening in real-time. Thanks to the Iteris V2X Connect platform and, and the vis visibility on that. So, Corey, to wrap us up today and just one final question, we’d love your thoughts on what are your feelings around the future of V2X communication technology?
Corey Yovich:
Sure. So, the VX technology is really growing. And I think the biggest part of that is going to be the adoption by the OEMs. You know and being able to more readily equip vehicles such as ambulances or transit vehicles with CV functional equipment is really going to allow us to step in and provide our priority and preemption technology right with them without having to add any additional hardware. And I think that’s where GTT’s role is going to be played in this market.
Kristen Rose:
Yeah. as seen in a few of the projects that you’ve deployed recently to that were hardware list deployments, I think that’s only going to propel that to the next level. Cool. Well, thank you so much Corey for sharing your experiences with how we’ve deployed V2X today. And we’ll continue to deploy it in the future. For more information on GTT’s broad strategy around V2X, we’re gonna drop a link for you now. Go ahead and click that link to read our white paper today. Thanks for joining us. Have a wonderful afternoon.
Corey Yovich:
Thanks Kristen.
